Department of Assamese

The Department of Assamese was established along with the T.H.B. College in 1963. The first lecturer was Ms. Swarnaprabha Mahanta ,who became state minister of Social Welfare, Handloom and Textile in the ministry of Sharat Singh. Initially the department offered Assamese as MIL and Elective subject. In 1982 the Major course was introduced. In 1991 PG course was introduced and run up to 2001.

It has a library with a stock of 250 books for the use of students.
